| `My art has been shaped by the process of living my life, and now, my art shapes my life. I have been fighting a continuous battle to control my body, due to the effects of earlier brain surgeries and radiation, and my emotions have run the gamut from hopelessness, to anger , to self-realization. I do what I do in an effort to express myself and direct pent-up emotions into creative expression. I have named my body of work “Art Saves Lives”, because I really believe it has saved mine. My work has appeared at the Smithsonian Institute, the Kennedy Center, the Outsider Art Show, the American Folk Art Museum, Johnson and Johnson, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey and other galleries throughout the country. I consider my paintings an integral part of my own "healing transformation” and believe passionately in the positive interaction between art and physical and mental health. i am convinced that the original title of my collection, “Art Saves Lives “. still holds true , now, more than ever. |
